PAUL J. KNIGHT & CHRIS ALLEN
The Music of Creation
Earth is the only source of music in the universe. It acts as a narcotic for aliens, creating a lucrative market for abducted musicians. When a young composer creates music that alters space, the Thalesian Protectorate sends an inexperienced girl on her first mission to save Ryan Reilly and his family from the Abductor cartel before Ryan’s ability ruptures the universe.
Excerpt from The Music of Creation -
Bridget (Mother of Irish composer Ryan): “But, Lindsey, if music is so valuable, why can’t you just make your own?”
Lindsey (Alien from Thales): “If that were possible, I would not be here. Certainly, we have computers that can place notes together and make what sounds like music, but it is not the same. When humans play, they tap into the fundamental properties of the universe, releasing extraordinary energy. For some species it has intoxicating effects, for others it accelerates growth and stimulates cognitive ability."
